This work addresses the complicated relationship I have with my family as a Transgender person. I am not out to my family, so this work is my coping with the unresolved confrontations with these family members. It is questioning the interpersonal relationships and if any of this is worth worrying about and how my physical appearance effects that.

 

It is supposed to replicate the tradition of a father figure cutting his son’s hair in the backyard. I never experienced this. I reclaimed it with my chosen family to finish this seemingly simple milestone at 20 years old rather than 5 or younger.
