Food and drugs are the main thing modern society abuses. The video depicts elegant foods and fast food. This comments on decadence and triviality because the fast food hamburger in the video is being eaten by maggots after the viewer is shown all these high-resolution luxury foods. There is also a chef and a knife set presented to show how hedonism is a double edged sword that leads a person’s way of thinking.

 

The viewer is forced to see their own overconsumption in their positive thoughts about food when it is flipped and shown the utility and real process of rot sped up by the use of maggots. The word ‘enjoy’ being repeated is also a commentary on how capitalism influences society to consume and perform this hedonism.

 

The audio leads a narrative of hedonism due to its interview quality accompanied by an unseen doctorial figure. The speaker talks about drugs and the elation that it gives her as she is speaking to this doctoral figure while a child near the end agrees with her. The audio ends with a child agreeing with the original speaker agreeing that they also partake in hedonistic consumption, showing how it is a cyclic factor in the 21st century.
